It's Time For Fall Primitive Decor.

We are gearing up for our fall festivals and craft shows here at Celene's Treasure Chest. We are crafting like crazy! Here are some of the things Pam and I are making for the online store, the shop in Coffeen, Illinois and the craft fairs we are attending. Let us know your favorites. We'd love a little input from you. Don't forget to check out the FREE crafter ideas and resources at Wood n' Whimsy . Please add your prim plug to my plugboards. Come on by and visit us in Coffeen, bring a picnic lunch and spend some time at lovely Forsee Vinyards just 3 1/2 miles up the road from us.

Til next time.....God Bless,

Celene

This is an old dressed up telegraph insulator!

Pam is always saying " what are you gonna do with that, it's junk!" But I know I'll think of something. Just like this old crooked frame with a rusted hinge that I pulled out of a junk pile.

I tried a new lettering technique. Raised letters made from hot glue and then painted.

Fabulous New Candles At Our Little Country Store

Please welcome Allison and her delicious country candles to Celene's Treasure Chest country store. Don't these beauties make your mouth water just looking at them? Allison's candles are heavily scented soy blend candles made in her kitchen while her 2 year old clings tightly to her ankle. Not only are these the most gorgeous candles you've ever seen, but each layer of "ingredient" has it's own scent. The crusts smell like pie crust or baked bread, the fruits smell lucious and the filling smells like the fruit in combination with baking spices, sugar, vanilla, etc. So run to the bakery, light one of these babies and invite your mother-in-law over for fresh baked goodies. You'll earn a few "brownie" points (hee, hee) and she'll never know the difference.

Strawberry Peach Smoothie

Comes in a 16oz soda fountain glass and contains a mixture of ice cream and strawberry & peach syrups. It is topped off with whip cream, fruit, syrup, and a straw. The average burn time for a candle this size will be roughly 60-80 hours.

Price: $12.95

Cinnamon Roll Bowl Fillers

These are made with a special craft dough, baked, sprinkled with cinnamon and spices, and glazed with a special triple scented wax topping . You'll receive an assortment of three sizes to make up your mix and they'll arrive freshly baked in a bakery bag ready to be displayed in your favorite prim treen or bowl. Mini (1 inch)to medium (2-2.5inch)to jumbo (3+ inches). You get a bakers dozen.

Price: $7.99

Strawberries & Cream Dream Cake

This one has a 6" cake base with piped edges and combed sides, triple scented in Allisons's blend of cake bake. This cake measures roughly 6" round by 4+ inches high and is topped off with ripe, luscious strawberries and yummie strawberry syrup. The average burn time is approx. 45-60 hours.

Price: $16.99

Gooey Banana Split

Start out with chocolate sauce and banana halves, then add three scoops of vanilla ice cream, more chocolate, nuts, and a cherry and you've got a sinfully delicious old fashioned banana split!

Price: $12.95

While you are here please stop by Wood n' Whimsy to see some of the things I make. I'd love to hear your comments. Don't wait til next Friday to come back and visit me. Til next time.

Primitive Crafts and God's Provision

Whew! I had quite a workout yesterday. As some of you know, my friend Pam and I have taken over my husband's never used workshop to make primitive woodcrafts that we sell in my shop and online. We've been doing this for over a year now. Primitive wood and supplies can be hard to come by. Fortunately we live in a small rural community where people know each other fairly well. A very nice lady called yesterday and asked if we would like some old wood from her barn. We jumped into Pam's old beat up pickup truck and headed out to her farm to get the wood and YIPPEE!! We hit the jackpot! It's going to take us a few weeks and several truckloads to haul it all off! Much of it is old barn wood and beautiful beams along with lots of other odds and ends that are at least 100 years old. Then last night someone else called me and asked if I could take some old windows and other wooden items off their hands. All I can say is God is good and he provides. It's a real blessing. We must be making a name for ourselves in the community, which is very good indeed. I have a very bad knee and yesterday about killed me, so please say a little prayer for me to be up to the task of hauling all this wood and for Pam as bless her, she has the brunt of the muscle work. You should have seen her climb that barn loft ladder to get to the wood. Did I forget to mention it's all high up in the loft of an old barn? A lot more goes in to making our crafts than most people realize. Anyway, I'm giving a shout out to Agnes for the plentiful supply of primitive wood. We truly appreciate it.
