Here are some neat old primitive birdhouses in one of the antique booths in my little country store. They have been well used. Please welcome Allison and her delicious country candles to Celene's Treasure Chest country store. Don't these beauties make your mouth water just looking at them? Allison's candles are heavily scented soy blend candles made in her kitchen while her 2 year old clings tightly to her ankle. Not only are these the most gorgeous candles you've ever seen, but each layer of "ingredient" has it's own scent. Friday Flea Market

Hi ya'll! Welcome to Friday Flea Market. I'd like to thank Polly from Counting Your Blessings for coming up with this idea and for making it happen. Bless you! I am afraid I did not stumble upon this wonderful flea market until late last night so I am not prepared for it this week, but next week watch out! Jewelry is a Girl's Best Friend

Hey ya'll! Today I've decided to show you some of the sparklin' purties I carry in my little country store. One of the crafters who display their wares at Celene's Treasure Chest is Jewelry Junction. They make the most beautiful jewelry! All their stuff is hypo-allergenic and won't tarnish, nor will it turn you green! It's made from an alloy of zinc, iron and nickel. It wears like stainless steel, looks like silver and is surprisingly lightweight. I have never been able to wear anything but solid gold or I break out, but this doesn't do that to me. I've been wearing Jewelry Junction's creations for about a year now with no problems. They use glass beads and semi-precious stones in their jewelry, which is why it is so beautiful. Some of the semi-precious stones used are Agate, Red Jasper, Onyx, Rose Quartz and Celestine. Don't ask me which is which, I am clueless! If anyone knows the difference between these stones will you please fill me in? Take a look and let me know what you think of it.

Wood n' Whimsy

Hey ya'll! It's been a few days since I've had time to post anything. I had a booth in a craft show and taxes to keep me busy this past week. Taxes, ugh!! Oh, well their done now. Next year I swear I won't be a last minute Lucy. Of course that's what I said last year and the year before that. I'm really going to try to keep up with it all this year.

As some of you know, I own a small rural craft and antique shop. I am revamping this blog to showcase some of the crafters and their hand did items displayed in my store. Not only will I be able to show them off, but perhaps I can make a few sales for them along the way. I will also be showing some of the vintage and antique items offered at my little country store.

This is the view of my shop you see when you enter the door. That huge antique gray granite coffee pot on the floor is an old commercial restaurant pot. I'd run screaming the other way if the waitress came at me with that. The primitive wooden shovel is an antique snow shovel. The basket on top of the ladder is an old tobacco drying basket.

Primitive Crafts and God's Provision

Whew! I had quite a workout yesterday. As some of you know, my friend Pam and I have taken over my husband's never used workshop to make primitive woodcrafts that we sell in my shop and online. We've been doing this for over a year now. Primitive wood and supplies can be hard to come by. Fortunately we live in a small rural community where people know each other fairly well. A very nice lady called yesterday and asked if we would like some old wood from her barn. We jumped into Pam's old beat up pickup truck and headed out to her farm to get the wood and YIPPEE!! We hit the jackpot! It's going to take us a few weeks and several truckloads to haul it all off! Much of it is old barn wood and beautiful beams along with lots of other odds and ends that are at least 100 years old. Then last night someone else called me and asked if I could take some old windows and other wooden items off their hands. All I can say is God is good and he provides. It's a real blessing. We must be making a name for ourselves in the community, which is very good indeed. I have a very bad knee and yesterday about killed me, so please say a little prayer for me to be up to the task of hauling all this wood and for Pam as bless her, she has the brunt of the muscle work. You should have seen her climb that barn loft ladder to get to the wood. Did I forget to mention it's all high up in the loft of an old barn? A lot more goes in to making our crafts than most people realize. Anyway, I'm giving a shout out to Agnes for the plentiful supply of primitive wood. We truly appreciate it.

Home Remedies for Pet Health

We all have our own holistic home remedies for aches, pains and runny noses that we use on ourselves and our loved ones, but what about our beloved pets? I have an old, pooch who is having a hard time getting off the couch these days. It breaks my heart to see her getting old. This condition just started over the long cold winter months. The last couple of weeks she hesitates to go outside because of the 2 steps on our porch. I also have an adorable but very smelly little Pomeranian with dry itchy skin. She digs and digs until she's bald in spots. I'm sure many of us have dearly loved pets with conditions that can be minimized with the right treatment. So how about sharing our knowledge with each other? What kind pet health problems do you have and what are your home remedies? I am not suggesting we forgo the veterinarian visits, but if we can minimize them and get healthy results, why not? Please comment with your pet home remedies.
